In 2020, Code42 developed a brand new industry security event, the Insider Risk Summit, where the cybersecurity community connects to gain knowledge, share insights, and address growing data risks from insider threats. I led the branding and design for the entire event, which incorporated a mix of in-person and virtual experience elements including paid and social ad design, art direction for stage and video designs, and online and platform designs.

While the event was initially intended to be in-person, we quickly pivoted to create an entirely virtual experience for attendees while maintaining some in-person aspects for event organizers and presenters. Despite our best preparation, the inaugural 2020 event experienced several issues including the mid-event collapse of the technology vendor’s server and subsequent crash of our meeting platform. We learned from those experiences for the 2021 event and partnered with a more robust online platform, created a full central stage and LED wall for presenters, and focused on crafting an elite virtual attendee experience.

The year-over-year registration increased 100% from 2020 to 2021 and live session views increased 300% for our target audience during the same time period. Our 2021 online platform upgrades proved worthwhile and we maintained connectivity for the duration of the event.
